Blog #6: Researching Micro Elements

Micro Elements in film are extremely important in order to keep all the actions and scenery of a movie put-together. My group decided to do a Horror/Thriller film which heavily relies on these micro elements harmonizing with one another. The main elements we need to work on are the sound, lighting, mise en scene, and editing. While researching I found out that high and dutch angles could work in our favor to get a horror aspect from the film. High angles are usually to show dominance which is perfect when showing the main creature. Dutch angles are also useful since they give an eerie and chaotic effect.

In terms of lighting we are going to make it as dark in the room as possible and slowly transition to a saturated red. This light will slowly reveal the build up of suspense since saturated red means something is about to go haywire. Our editing should also be fast paced to keep things interesting and suspenseful. Lastly for sound we will probably make it quiet with some eerie sounds playing to create a horror effect. We could also do a static sound building up to create suspense.
