The Hegemonic Theory is also one of the most important theories in film. Alongside the Marxist Theory there are subtle differences and similarities between them. For example both have to do with having someone have a higher status whether it be a boss or a dictator. However with the Hegemonic Theory, this has to do with the Male Gaze and gender norms in society. For example there are many actions in movies which give the males a dominant role over females.
The film that we used was Maleficent since it showed a woman taking power after being attacked by the males. This in context can be interchangeable with the Marxist Theory also since both are very similar.
